MEET YOUR 2020-21 PTA EXECUTIVE BOARD
President: Andrea Wader
Hello Falcon families! I'm Andrea Wader and this is my 2nd year as PTA President. I am currently serving on the Long Beach Council PTA Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee and am also the LBCPTA webmaster. I was Fremont PTA Executive VP 2018-19 and Health & Safety Chair 2016-2019. I've been a volunteer with our PTA in various capacities and VIPS volunteer since 2016. My daughter, Karli, is a 4th grader this year. I am a die-hard tennis mom, shuttling her to and from the courts and junior tennis team. I worked on the art side of the music industry for fifteen years collectively, retiring in 2015. I am finishing up my classes in Independent Educational Consulting this year at UC Irvine and contemplating graduate school. This is our sixth year living in Long Beach, after transplanting from Pasadena. We are obsessive USC football, Dodger baseball, Big Green Egg, and live music fans. We cherish our family time together and enjoy: walks with our dog (Riggs), kayaking, bike rides, sudoku, forensic science shows, all things Star Wars, Lego-building, puzzles, ping pong, making sushi, cooking, dinner parties, bonfires, and dancing with wild abandon in our living room. We're looking forward to a great school year! GO FALCONS!!
Treasurer: Joe Blunt
Welcome fellow Falcons! My name is Joe Blunt and I am going into my 2nd year as PTA Treasurer. I have one son at Fremont, Julian, who is in 4th Grade, and a second son, Aiden, who just finished his elementary school career at Fremont and has moved on to Middle School. I’ve been a Fremont PTA member for 6 years. I’d tell you a few of my hobbies but I don’t remember them anymore since quarantine hit. Together, we will make it through this!
Recording Secretary: Krista Richardson
Hi, I'm Krista! 2020-21 will be my 9th school year at Fremont. My two daughters are former Falcons and my son, Emmett, starts 1st grade this year. I am returning as Recording Secretary, which is not as boring as it sounds; education is really interesting stuff, especially now. My role is to keep a record of our PTA board and association meetings so we can remember all the things we promised to do.
VP Fundraising: Marianne Groat
Hi! I'm Marianne, and this is my first year on the board. I've been a both a member and book fair co-chair previously. This marks our third year at Fremont, having moved to Long Beach when our oldest was going into 2nd grade. This year we have a 4th grader and a Kindergartner at school. If I were writing a dating bio, I'd say my likes include reading, cooking, being outside, traveling, and spending time with family and friends. But, since I'm not, I'll say I enjoy making people laugh and drinking coffee in the early, quiet morning before the kids get up. Me in a nutshell. Ok, bye!
VP Programs: Nora Frislie
Hello, my name is Nora Frislie and my daughter Zoe will be in 3rd grade this year. I have been a part of the PTA since her kinder year helping with Jog A Thon. This year will be my second year as VP of programs and a part of our fabulous board at Fremont. I love cooking and baking new recipes and gardening succulents. I enjoy spending time with my husband and daughter and look forward to a great 2020-21 school year!
Financial Secretary: Lauren Farrell
Hello! I'm Lauren Farrell, mom to George (3rd grade) and Vivienne (1st Grade). I've been an active member of the Fremont PTA for 4 years now and currently serve on the board as Financial Secretary as well as organize Family Fun Nights. In the past I helped on a few committees, was our Kindergarten Ambassador, and always love being room mom! Our family loves boating, bay days, and random Palm Springs getaways! (And White Claws for me!😆) I hope to meet you at one of our PTA Association meetings and look forward to working together for our kids and our fabulous school! Go Falcons!!
Director, Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI):
Dr. Nooshin Valizadeh
Hi there! I'm Nooshin Valizadeh. I'm honored to be Fremont's first Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion (DEI) Director. I am also Chair for the Long Beach Council PTA DEI committee. I work as a DEI consultant for businesses and universities. I enjoy writing poetry. My daughter, Sarina, will be entering the first grade at Fremont. Our family enjoys riding horses and running around Rosie’s dog beach.
Room Parent Coordinator & Historian:
Hi! I'm Kelsey Stewart. It's my 3rd year on the board. 2nd year Historian, and this year's interim Room Parent Coordinator. I like long walks from the bedroom to the kitchen and stress-drinking an inordinate amount of La Croix. I have a 4th grader named Lily and a former Fremont Falcon who’s now in 7th grade named Liam. Fremont has been our home away from home for 8 years. We’ll get through this together. 💛
Director, Communications: Audra Haskell
So happy and grateful to join this incredible team and community as the new Director, Communications. I am committed to keeping our once and future membership connected and informed, ensuring the best possible access to all PTA and school resources. This is our family’s second year at Fremont and we have fully embraced this brave new world of virtual learning. (Shout out to Wilder’s 1st grade teacher, Mrs.Gallo, who is AMAZING!) I’m a digital marketing professional with 15 years experience working in the entertainment industry. But mostly I love indolence and leisure, travel, strolling, Nature, reading, cooking and baking, homemaking, enjoying my friends and family, BigBear, the Arts, and Lagavulin.
Parliamentarian: Jenn Staples
Hi! I'm Jenn Staples, mom of Ben (4th grade) and Max (3rd grade). I love laughing with my babies, rooting for them on the baseball field and within the Fremont community. I've been a PTA member for four years, since 2016, and this my third year on the Executive Board. I was VP Fundraising for two years and am Parliamentarian this year.
Teacher Representative: Ami Guy
Mrs. Guy is in her 4th year teaching first grade at Fremont and 2nd year as a Teacher Rep on the PTA Executive Board. She enjoys sushi, the beach, and cheering on the Dodgers and Lakers with her family. We are so lucky to have her on our board!
