MLK Day: Make it a day ON, not a day off

Observed each year on the third Monday in January as “a day on, not a day off,” MLK Day is the only federal holiday designated as a national day of service to encourage all Americans to volunteer to improve their communities, celebrating the civil rights leader's life and legacy.

From Leadership Long Beach: "Over the last decade, thousands of volunteers have completed dozens of projects across Long Beach on MLK Day. And although this year’s event will be very different than past years because of the pandemic, the spirit and purpose of the day honoring Dr. King may be more relevant than ever. Please join us this year for an inspiring online Celebration and engaging virtual service projects you and your family can do from home or in your own communities. Thank you for helping us to make it a ‘Day on, Not a Day Off” for ALL of Long Beach!"
